The WorldGBC encourages you to invite your staff, members, and government representatives to attend our upcoming Sustainable Cities Initiative (SCI) Speaker Series online event with the Deputy Mayor of Vancouver, Andrea Reimer.
Ms. Reimer will be presenting on Vancouver’s Greenest City 2020 Action Plan, winner of the WorldGBC’s Best Green Building Policy in its 2013 Global Leadership Awards.
The City publishes regular updates on the policy’s impacts. As of 2014, the policy has already resulted in numerous positive outcomes, including:
18% decrease in water use,
12% decrease in waste to landfill,
6% decrease in community greenhouse gases, and
3,200 new local food and green jobs.
Perhaps most significantly, this policy has been the driving force behind Vancouver’s current status as the most financially robust city in Canada.
