Ramboll brings leading sustainable design expertise to World Green Building Council’s Europe Network
Ramboll, the global consulting engineering group has today entered into a new partnership with the World Green Building Council’s Europe Network.
Ramboll has joined Europe’s largest sustainable built environment network as its first engineering partner, to collaborate on driving sustainability and innovation across Europe’s building sector.
WorldGBC’s Europe Network represents a community of 23 Green Building Councils (GBCs), nine Regional Partner companies and over 4,500 company members who cooperate closely to support the shift towards a sustainable built environment.
With 300 offices in 35 countries, Ramboll employs more than 15,000 experts globally and works across the following markets: buildings, transport, planning & urban design, water, environment & health, energy and management consulting.
Neel Strøbæk, Chief Sustainability Officer, Ramboll said “Ramboll has the ambition to grow the share of revenue that contributes to the UN Sustainability Development Goals. A key route to a sustainable future is to make the built environment sustainable – this is significant to us, as one third of our turnover stems from design of buildings. We see our partnership with the World Green Building Council as a key enabler for achieving our sustainability ambitions”
In 2019, the Europe Network and its partners will be heavily focused on mainstreaming life cycle and circular thinking ,and launching new platforms on innovation exchange and building decarbonisation strategies for cities.
Rikke Orry, Sustainability Director, Ramboll Buildings said: “Ramboll is delighted to join the World Green Building Council’s European partnership. Sustainability is part and parcel of our Nordic heritage with high standards for energy efficiency, accessibility and indoor climate in our building codes. We want to inspire clients to be ambitious when it comes to sustainability. The WorldGBC is an excellent platform for sharing knowledge and driving the business case for sustainable buildings.”
James Drinkwater, Director, Europe Network, World Green Building Council said: “This year will be critical for scaling up our vision and strategy for a sustainable built environment at the heart of Europe’s future. Having Ramboll’s world leading expertise in sustainable design working alongside us adds huge strength to this work. As the European Commission sets out a vision to reach net zero emissions by 2050, WorldGBC’s Europe Network will be working closely with Ramboll and our partners to show how we get there.”
Ramboll is preparing to unveil its 2019 Green Market Study on 11 April. The study will identify and track key trends in the real estate and building industries in relation to sustainable construction. Insights include that while sustainability is considered important for successful business operation by 95% of the respondents, a staggering 50% of respondents have little or no knowledge of financial implications of sustainable buildings. This implies that decisions are being made on an uninformed basis.
Ramboll joins an exclusive cross-sector partnership which includes ASSA ABLOY, BASF, E.ON, Knauf Insulation, Saint-Gobain, Skanska, Stora Enso and UTC.
