The future of Africa’s built environment is circular construction

Circularity in the built environment and construction sector is critical to making Africa’s cities more liveable and achieving climate goals. In this interactive accelerator session, we will focus on circular businesses in the construction sector, circular concepts for dense urban construction using low carbon materials combined with local circular building materials and concepts, and zoom into exemplary projects and companies.

The hybrid full day WCEF Accelerator session 8 December will start at 09 AM at Lemigo Hotel (KG 624 St, Kigali, Rwanda).

The event is organized by VITO/EnergyVille, ENABEL Rwanda (with support of NIRDA/CPCIC/Rwanda Ministry of Environment MoE), One Planet SBC Programme, Green Building Council Finland, Footprints Africa and Fetola.

The afternoon session features a hotseat session

Circularity in the built environment is critical to making Africa’s cities more liveable and achieving climate goals. Like with so many areas, we need to move quicker and at scale. But how can we do this in a dynamic, practical way?

This is where this hotseat session will come in. We will take three African circular businesses working in architecture and the built environment. We will identify their hardest challenges and put them to the wisdom of the crowd in a fast-paced, catalytic question-only session. The beauty of the hotseat is that it generates a wealth of ideas, very quickly, and sparks new forms of collaboration. The hotseat is a highly collaborative session with a group of entrepreneurs working in the same field, adding in specially selected technical experts and investment specialists.
