Green Building Council Finland
Green Building Council Finland (FIGBC) is a non-profit association and a member of the World Green Building Council. Founded in 2010, our operations extend to the entire built environment and its life cycle.
FIGBC has an office in Helsinki, Finland.
We show direction and help along the way
As an association and a network of our members, we produce reports and operating models that enable those working in the real estate and construction industry to speed up their own responsible activities.
Our members represent the built environment from different points in the value chain. Cities, municipalities, ministries, associations, and educational organisations are important stakeholders in our work. We operate in extensive cooperation in all sectors of society.
We are part of the solution
FIGBC’s goal is a sustainable built environment. We gather best practices and create a common understanding of the best solutions.
We make things clear
The real estate and construction industry is complex. Through us, you get an essential picture of what is happening in the industry, how the changes affect your operations, and what solutions we can best use to promote an environmentally sustainable built environment.
Cooperation that benefits all
We are an active actor – our operations are based on cooperation, which creates concrete operating models for the entire industry. Cooperation also provides organisational and personal benefits: practical solutions and valuable networks.
World Green Building Council
The World Green Building Council (WorldGBC) is the largest and most influential local-regional-global action network, leading the transformation to sustainable and decarbonised built environments for everyone, everywhere. Together, with 75+ Green Building Councils and industry partners from all around the world, we are driving systemic changes to:
– Address whole life carbon emissions of existing and new buildings.
– Enable resilient, healthy, equitable and inclusive places.
– Secure regenerative, resource efficient and waste-free infrastructure.
WorldGBC works with businesses, organisations and governments to deliver on the ambitions of the Paris Agreement and UN Global Goals for Sustainable Development (SDGs).
Global Policy Principles for a Sustainable Built Environment
WorldGBC and its network have launched the “Global Policy Principles for a Sustainable Built Environment“, to support policymakers around the world adopt a holistic approach to built environment sustainability, and ensure that new and updated policies and legislations deliver the transformative action needed to reach the Paris Agreement and Sustainable Development Goals.
The principles are structured around seven key focus areas: carbon, resilience, circularity, water, biodiversity, health, equity and access. These areas are supported by detailed policy levers to show how they can be effectively implemented through regulation, information and incentives.
The Europe Regional Network in WorldGBC
The Europe Regional Network (ERN) is a community of over 20 national Green Building Councils, 8 Regional Partners, and close to 5,000 members across Europe.
Although there is a growing market for sustainable buildings in Europe, more work needs to be done to ensure that sustainability is embedded across the whole sector value chain. The ERN’s mission is to unite our whole sector through action and advocacy that accelerates the shift towards our vision for a sustainable built environment at the heart of Europe’s future.
The ERN’s activities include networking leaders, assessment and certification, awareness raising, skills and capacity building, financial and economic incentives, and policy and regulation.
