District-scale Green Area Factor 2025
Will be published soon!
This publication presents the district-scale Green Area Factor developed in the ARVO – Assessing and Strengthening Green Structure in Urban Land-use Planning project. The district-scale Green Area Factor 2025 is a GIS-based tool developed to support biodiversity enhancement and climate change adaptation in urban areas. It evaluates urban green structure through three complementary values (biodiversity, climate resilience, and well-being benefits), making the multiple functions of green and blue infrastructure visible in planning processes. The method helps planners, researchers, and decision-makers compare existing conditions and planning alternatives and integrate ecological quality and the mitigation hierarchy more systematically into land-use planning. The publication provides basic guidance on implementing the district-scale Green Area Factor and its calculation method based on the Finnish versions of the ARVO project’s publications.
